Shattered – Frequently Asked Questions
Watching Shattered
About the Documentary
Shattered explores what happens after workplace injury—not only to the injured person, but also to families, communities and the systems designed to support recovery. While workplace injury provides the starting point, the documentary is ultimately about human experience, resilience, care and what we owe one another when work changes a life.
Shattered has been made for a broad audience. While it begins with workplace injury, its themes extend far beyond compensation systems to families, recovery, leadership, care and the human experience of rebuilding life after adversity.
At its heart, Shattered is intended to help mums and dads understand what can happen after an injury and to contribute to a broader public conversation about recovery, health and human dignity.
For many years, workplace injury has carried significant stigma, despite more Australians being injured at work each year than on our roads. Through lived experience, historical context and expert insight, Shattered seeks to place health, recovery and the human experience at the centre of that conversation.
We hope, with humility, that this small independent documentary encourages greater understanding, reduces stigma and reminds us that behind every workplace injury is a person, a family and a community whose story continues long after the incident itself.
