One of the questions we are asked most often is simple: When can I watch Shattered? It's a fair question.
Many people assume that once a documentary is finished, it immediately appears on a streaming platform. In reality, independent documentaries often follow a number of different pathways before finding their way into homes and communities.
For many films, the journey begins with festivals, community screenings, educational settings and workplace conversations. Over time, opportunities may emerge through broadcasters, theatrical releases, streaming services and other distribution channels.
Some of the most meaningful conversations begin in community halls, libraries, workplaces and around the family dinner table. Shared stories have the power to deepen understanding, strengthen connection and, over time, help shape the way we care for one another.
A film about workplace injury, care and human dignity is experienced differently when watched alongside colleagues, neighbours, health professionals, students, faith communities and families. These shared experiences create space for reflection, discussion and understanding in ways that viewing alone sometimes cannot.
As an independent documentary, Shattered is now entering this next phase of its journey. Our immediate focus is on community, workplace and educational screenings, bringing the film to the people and places where these conversations matter most, while broader distribution opportunities continue to evolve.
The work of finding an audience has only just begun. Independent documentaries rarely arrive all at once. They find their way into communities, workplaces, classrooms and conversations over time. The journey can be long, moving through festivals, community screenings, educational settings and other distribution pathways, and not every opportunity comes to fruition. But with patience and perseverance, a film can gradually take on a life of its own, finding the people it was made to reach in ways its makers could never have fully anticipated.
The illustration below offers a glimpse into some of the pathways documentaries may travel as they make their way into the world.

We invite organisations, workplaces, libraries, universities, healthcare settings, faith communities and community groups to register their interest and help bring Shattered to audiences across Australia.
Because the conversations that begin after the credits roll may be just as important as the film itself.
